Cuba Street

Zealandia

Australasia’s list of top 25 ecological restoration projects cannot be complete without Zealandia : Karori Wildlife Sanctuary. This multi-million dollar project is aimed at restoring some parts of Wellington to its pre-human environment. This paradise is home to some of New Zealand's most iconic creatures - Weka, Kiwi and Tuatara reptiles.  Zealandia is only a short drive from Victoria Court Motor Lodge.

Weta Workshop

Wētā Workshop is an award-winning concept design and manufacturing facility founded by Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger and most famous for its work on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie trilogy where its work in creating miniatures, weapons, armour, prosthetics, props, creatures and costumes helped win five Academy Awards and a BAFTA.  Visit this award-winning workshop to see how it was done.  Wētā Workshop is only a short drive from Victoria Court Motor Lodge.

Te Papa. Museum of New Zealand

Visit New Zealand's national museum on Cable Street on the waterfront.  Established in 1992, the museum explores New Zealand's national identity.  With six floors of exhibitions, cafes and gift shops dedicated to New Zealand's culture, history and environment, and outdoor areas with artificial caves, native bush and wetlands, there is something for everyone to explore.  Te Papa is only a short walk from Victoria Court Motor Lodge.
